Clade sponsors National School Virtual Debating Competition 2017
Clade Solutions, a leading provider of learning and development platforms in the education sector, is proud to be sponsoring this year’s School Virtual Debating Competition, a true national event, which is open to all Australian schools in the independent sector.
Since 2015, student teams across Australia have been taking part in the National Virtual Debating Program: an event that removes the tyranny of distance and associated costs that can prohibit schools from benefiting in face to face debating to engage in an invaluable low-cost alternative.
For many schools, especially those in rural or remote areas, the National Virtual Debating Competition opens new opportunities for students to develop important critical thinking skills that can support potential careers in politics, law and diplomacy among others.
Following on from the hugely successful inaugural 2016 event featuring 60 teams, the 2017 competition has expanded to 96 teams competing from 43 schools.
“It’s great to be part of such an innovative program, says Tijn Tacke, CTO of Clade. We have developed a Digital Media Platform for The Independent Schools Digital Collaboration Network – a YouTube for schools – and this platform is used to store and manage all the virtual debates.”
The Independent Schools Digital Collaboration Network, an initiative from the Independent School peak bodies from Queensland and New South Wales, are the organisers of this program, and expecting this event to become a cross-sectoral National Virtual Debating Competition – involving Independent, Catholic and government schools in 2018.
